how to turn a video into gif

Internetz 101: How to Turn a Video into a GIF

The internet has sort of moved past written language. Nowadays, most discourse on social media and the web at large is done through memes and gifs! You know, those moving, looping images that help us express our innermost feelings and thoughts.

But many internet-savvy people still don’t know how to turn a video into gif format! It’s a simple task, and there are a lot of different ways you can go about it. If you’re marketing a product, gifs may even be beneficial for your business!

Here’s just a few to take your internet communication level up a few notches.

Make a Gif With Giphy

Giphy offers users one of the easiest ways to convert videos into gifs.

Navigate to giphy.com, then hit ‘create’ in the top-right corner. It’s to the immediate left of the ‘log in’ button. You’ll now arrive at giphy’s ‘gif maker’.

From here, you have the option to make your gift out of separate photos or one video. Click ‘Choose Video’, then navigate to the video you want to turn into a gif. There’s also a URL bar under these options if you want to turn a YouTube, Vimeo, etc. video from across the web into a gif.

Once you’ve made your selection, giphy will show you the video along with some options underneath. These options include the duration of your gif, and where you want to start and end it. Slide the bar to the correct start time, select the relevant duration, and hit ‘create GIF’.

Congratulations, you’ve just made your first gif. The .gif file is now saved to your computer and ready to share on Twitter, Facebook, and anywhere else that accepts them. How simple is that?

Use Photoshop Like a Pro

For the more computer savvy and quality-driven user, Photoshop can make very high-quality gifs out of most image or video files. It’s not necessary by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s very easy to do even with a beginners knowledge of Photoshop.

Open the source video in Photoshop, then select ‘File’ from the toolbar. Go to ‘import’, then ‘video frames to layers’.

You’ll be met with a box that lets you choose what portion of the video you want made into the gif. You can select the whole thing, or a range. You can even decide what quality you want the gif to be in, allowing for smaller or larger gif sizes.

Once you’ve done all this, check the box that says ‘Make Frame Animation’ and click ‘OK’. Your gif is complete. Navigate back up to ‘File’, select ‘Export’, then ‘Save for Web (Legacy)’.

Here you can make further choices about image size and color. Do so if you want, then hit ‘Save’. Your gif will export and save to your computer!

Photoshop lets you do a lot with your gifs. You can edit them using Photoshop’s wide selection of tools before exporting, and achieve much higher levels of quality than with a site like Giphy. If you know the software, this is the way to go.

For the truly skilled Photoshopper, you can use the software to convert photos, and even PDFs to gif format. But that’s a tutorial for another day.

Try Makeagif

Makeagif.com is a nice alternative to giphy. With makeagif you can make gifs out of Facebook videos, YouTube videos, local videos, and videos from the cloud. Plus, it’s easy as pie.

Right from the homepage you’ll see all your options laid out before you. Select ‘Video to GIF’ and click ‘upload video’. Navigate to the video on your computer and select it. The video will upload to makeagif and you’ll be brought to an editing page.

Here you can choose the quality of your GIF, the start and end time, the speed, and whether or not you want to add captions or stickers. You can even disable or enable the audio.

Once you’ve got your gif how you like it, press ‘continue’. You can now name the gif, select a category, and tag it, or simply hit ‘create gif’. Makeagif offers an uploading and sharing service where you can browse users’ gifs and share your own.

Like with GIPHY, some features require you to make an account or purchase a premium membership to enjoy. Of course, these are still some of the easiest options if you’re trying to make a quick gif. For those heavily invested in online discourse, the premium options may just be worth it!

Make a GIF on Mobile

There are a lot of different apps on both Android and iOS that allow you to make gifs. Many of these apps let you simply select a video from your phone and convert it into a gif. One of the most popular available on both OS’s is GIF Maker.

Just download GIF Maker (it’s free), boot it up, and tap ‘video to GIF’. Select the video you want to convert from your camera roll. You’ll be given a preview of the video, and a sliding bar that you can adjust to your desired length.

Tap the checkmark in the top right corner. Now you can select the speed of the gif, adjust contrast and brightness, crop it, and add filters. GIF Maker even allows you to add text to the top and bottom of the GIF to turn your GIF into a meme!

Once you’ve gotten your GIF how you like it, hit the arrow in the top right corner to export it. Choose the format you want (GIF or MP4), and pick the quality and resolution. You also have the option to compress the GIF if you need it to be more shareable.

Tap ‘confirm’ and your GIF will save to your phone. You can save the GIF straight from the application, or from your camera roll.

Now You Know How to Turn a Video Into GIF

Learning how to turn a video into gif format will really take your internet discourse skills to the next level. Gif your favorite YouTube videos, videos of your pets, and all the hilarious moments you’ve happened to catch on film. You’ll find you’re able to express yourself in whole new, entertaining ways you never thought possible before.

The Top 7 Most Important Reasons to Start a Blog in 2020

Think blogging is finally on its last legs in 2020? Think again. Blogs compose one-third of all websites, meaning this medium is more popular than ever before.

Are you thinking of jumping on the bandwagon? Whether you’re looking for an entertaining hobby or a serious business opportunity, blogging is worth your consideration. Starting a blog could be the best decision you ever make.

Of course, you need some inspiration. So here are the 7 most important reasons to start a blog in 2020.

1. Make More Money

Let’s start with the world’s greatest incentive: cold, hard cash. It’s no secret that high-quality blogging opens doors to passive income. Huffington Post — a popular blog site — makes over $14 million every month.

Obviously, your personal blog isn’t likely to earn you a modest mansion. That said, it can lead to a bit of pocket money, and if you’re lucky, a full salary.

How do you monetize a blog? That depends on the industry yours covers.

For example, review blogs tend to earn money from sponsored reviews and affiliate marketing. You might imagine that most blogs make their money from advertisements. This is only true for those that see a great deal of traffic.

For smaller blogs that are just getting started, many rely on charitable donations and patrons.

Always look at the income potential as a bonus. If you start blogging just for the money, you’re not likely to find success.

2. Build a Portfolio

Freelancers of all stripes stand to benefit from a well-composed blog. It tells potential clients that you’re an informed professional that stays up-to-date in the industry. Even better, a blog with decent SEO can bring traffic to your website, and thus to your services.

These types of personal blogs are essential for both writers and artists. The existence of a modest following tells publishers that there is an audience for your work. This is known as an author platform.

Even if you aren’t a freelancer, a decent blog can give you an edge over other candidates vying for the same job position. In this market, a great resume offers no guarantees. The more experience and dedication you can leverage, the better.

So why not start a blog?

3. Create SEO Real Estate

Do you already have a website? It doesn’t matter what purpose it serves. Including a blog offers many digital advantages.

Search engines look kindly on websites that publish regular blog content. If you create content worth sharing, there is a great chance people will. Every time a website links your article, you’ll gain a backlink, improving your website’s search engine ranking.

Best of all, you can include targeted keywords in each blog article. Without regular content, you only have so much space to incorporate these keywords.

Not savvy with search engine optimization? Here is the short of it: Blogging draws more eyes and traffic to your website.

4. Improve Your Writing

No matter what you’re blogging about, one thing is certain: writing, and lots of it. Odds are, your first set of blog posts won’t be anything spectacular.

But practice makes perfect. The more you write, the better you will become. Writing skills are valuable not just for writers, but for most office occupations.

You don’t have to improve your writing skills just to impress an employer. Maybe you’re looking for an excuse to improve as a hobby. Blogging is a great place to dip your feet before moving on to larger projects, such as self-publishing a book.

5. Learn New Skills

Blogging is more than typing up a report like you’re back in high school. If you run the most basic blog possible, meaning no images or WordPress functionality, you’ll still have to contend with the content itself.

Most bloggers become adept at researching relevant sources. You know what they say: if you can’t explain something simply, you haven’t mastered it yet. The process of distilling complex information into a pleasing, conservational narrative takes a great deal of skill.

And you’ll learn a great deal about the industry and yourself in the process. If you run a proper blog through WordPress, you’ll also learn the technical side of things, whether that is something like SEO or content management.

6. Master Self-Motivation

Since blogging is a personal affair, there’s only one person who can keep you accountable: That’s you. The most successful blogs publish a new article every other day. Think you can keep up?

Maybe not at first. But if you stick around, blogging will force you to learn self-motivation and time management. Every good blogger possesses these traits, and that’s because they improve them through the blogging process.

7. Enjoy a Free Hobby

Is blogging worth it? Considering you can get started without paying a dollar, the answer is yes.

There are countless websites available with free blogging functionality. It may not be the most beautiful or customizable website ever, but you don’t need anything fancy if you’re just starting out.

Everyone should give blogging a try, especially since there is virtually no barrier to entry. Want to move your cheap blog to a personal WordPress website later on? You can import the information with a few clicks.

There Are so Many Reasons to Start a Blog…

So what are you waiting for? Blogging is completely free and comes with personal, financial, and employment incentives.

Of all the reasons to start a blog, we haven’t even covered the most important: it’s fun! The surprising entertainment value makes it easy to get started — and to keep going months down the line.

Top Reasons Why You Need To Convert Pages To Docx For Your Projects

In 2016, the Mac computer only accounted for 10% of computer use.

The most popular is Windows, who only fell below 90% of use in 2016. Windows, a subset of Microsoft, uses Microsoft Word as its primary word processor, meaning that a .pages document will leave many people unable to read your files.

In this article, we’ll go over some of the top reasons to convert a file from pages to docx, and how you can do it quickly, easily, and for free.

Read on for more information.

What is a Pages File?

A pages file is the saved version of a document that was typed up in Pages on a Mac. Pages is the Mac version of Microsoft Word, and functions as a word processor.

Despite the fact that almost all Mac computers come equipped with Pages, most Mac users still purchase Microsoft Office, which includes Microsoft Word. Or, they use the free online version that allows them to access the features without it being native to their computer.

Pages files are, in essence, extremely limited in their scope. In order for someone to read your Pages file, they must also have pages on their computer. If not, the computer will fail to open the file.

What is a DOCX File?

A DOCX file is the file extension for a newer Word document. Some of the earlier Microsoft Word documents were saved under a .DOC, though most Word applications are still able to read a .DOC file.

You can send a DOCX file to other people, who can then open it on their computer if they have Microsoft Word. If they don’t, the computer may still be able to open it, but they will be unable to edit the document.

Why Convert Pages to DOCX? It’s More Accessible

1.2 billion people use Microsoft Word. That’s a huge percentage of people who use computers. And with the majority of people being Microsoft Windows users, you’ll need something that’s more accessible.

The number one reason to convert your file is to share it with someone else. You don’t know what type of computer the person is operating on, and chances are they’ll be operating with a Windows computer.

Even if they are not operating with a Windows computer, chances are still pretty high that they’ll have Microsoft Word installed, as many Mac users are still loyal to the program.

You May Need to Open It Elsewhere

Depending on what you’re using the file for, you may need to open it somewhere that isn’t your computer. If you’re, for example, creating a document for school, you may need to go to your school’s computer lab to open the file.

In that case, many universities and high schools have Microsoft Windows computers exclusively because they’re often less expensive than Apple computers. Some schools may have Mac labs, but these labs may only be accessible to students on certain courses.

Additionally, even if the school has a Mac available to you, it will also likely still have Word on it.

Sending It to Students, Teachers or Co-Workers

If you’re taking a class in which the professor or teacher wants you to submit work electronically, it is very doubtful that they will accept a Pages document. Most teachers or professors work better with a DOCX, partially because it is more accessible.

Most teachers, or places of employment, will be uniform in the types of files they accept to make it easier for them to work with them. Unless you work with a company that solely uses Apple, it’s not very likely a teacher will request a Pages document. Even then, your teacher may ask that you use a DOCX Word document file.

Word Allows For Easier Editing Between Parties

Of course, you can edit your own documents in Pages. You can even send your documents to a friend who will then edit your document in Pages, providing they use it and are familiar with it.

But, a DOCX document is much easier to make edits on. In fact, many people use the track changes section that allows you to see the changes the person has made in red. This makes it easy and simple to accept or reject the changes as necessary.

Track changes also make your job easier if you’re editing or you’re a teacher. This way, you can very easily show your students or co-workers what needs to be changed and send it back to them.

This makes collaboration between parties a lot easier so that you can get to your goal of finishing a project, or helping a student or co-worker improve, much easier.

A DOCX document is not only more accessible, but it’s also more versatile, meaning that the features on it allow for maximum ability to come together to create exactly what you need.

3 Hacks to Convert HTML to JPG In a Few Clicks

Do you need to display a web page as part of a presentation? Or perhaps you want a web page saved as a handy image?

If this is the case, it may be tempting to take a screen capture of the website. While this does work, you’ll only be able to capture the small section of the page that displays on your screen. If you want to save the entire page, you’ll end up having to screen capture different parts of the page and save the different parts separately.

A better method is to convert HTML to JPG.

Luckily, this is easy to do and will leave you with a clean and aesthetically pleasing image of the webpage to use. Here are some ways to convert HTML to JPG.

What Is HTML?

If you’re unsure of what HTML actually is, it might be best to learn before making your conversion.

HTML is short for HyperText Markup Language and it’s the standard text used to create web pages on the internet. Along with CSS and JavaScript, HTML is the technology used by many websites to produce competent and visually engaging webpages, user interfaces for web applications, and user interfaces for mobile applications.

HTML files basically create the building blocks of all websites. This language allows images and objects to be embedded into a webpage and it can also be used to create features such as interactive forms.

HTML builds web pages by creating structures such as headings, paragraphs, lists, links, quotes, and other items in the text on a webpage. It’s commonly associated with programs and browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer.

What Is A JPEG?

Likewise, you should understand exactly what a JPEG is too.

JPEG is most commonly used as a file of lossy compression for digital images. This is particularly so for images created by digital photography.

The degree of compression can be played with and adjusted which can affect the quality and how much storage space the image takes up on a computer.

Typically, a JPEG achieves 10:1 compression with little observable loss in image quality.

Files that employ JPEG compression are called JPEG files and are stored in variations of the JIF image type. Typically, most image capture devices like digital cameras that output JPEGs produce files in the Exif format first. This is the format that the digital camera industry has standardized.

Common programs that associate with JPEG include Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Adobe Photoshop, Paint, GIMP, and Pixel image editor.

Converting HTML to JPEG

Now that you understand exactly what HTML and JPEG are, let’s learn how to convert HTML to JPEG.

1. Use an Image Editing Program

An easy way to convert HTML to JPEG is by using a browser and an image editing program.

Firstly, open your HTML up in the browser of your choice. Firefox, Chrome, or Safari would work in this instance. If the HTML page is up on the web, you can simply visit the URL of the website.

If the HTML file is saved to your computer, go to the menu bar on your browser and select File, then Open and select your HTML file.

Click file, then print. Don’t worry, we won’t really be doing any printing. This is just part of the process.

The Print Options window should open. Click the PDF button in the print options and select Save as PDF. Your browser will ask you choose a file name and you’ll need to save it in a location.

In an image editing program, open up the PDF. We suggest using Adobe Photoshop or GIMP.

Go to File and then select Save As. You’ll be prompted to choose a file name and type for your image. Choose a name and select JPG. Then click save once you’re done.

Voila!

2. Use a Universal Document Converter

Alternatively, you can download a Universal Document Converter to convert HTML to JPG. This professional software will make the conversion for you.

Visit the Universal Document Converter webpage and download the software onto your computer. Once it’s installed, launch the program.

Open the HTML file you want to convert in Internet Explorer. Select Tools, then Internet Options, then Advanced.

Next, in the Printing section, check the boxes for Print background colors and image option. Then click OK.

Click on the File button and select Page Setup. Next, you’ll need to deduct any text from the Header and Footer. Then click OK.

Select Choose File button again and proceed to click on Print. Then select Universal Document Converter in the Print window and then click on preferences.

Click on Load Properties and use the Open dialog to select Webpage to PDF.xml. Then click on open.

Interesting Reasons Why Tech Companies Love to Convert PDF To GIF

“One does not simply walk into Mordor” is the feeling of many a marketer and manager when it comes to getting into the GIF game. It also happens to be one of the oldest and most popular GIFs.

But while some companies are too timid to become proficient in the use of GIFs in their materials—dank or otherwise—there are others which are embracing this new medium of communication. And these are tech companies.

Tech companies tend to be at the cutting edge of things (it is their job after all, and trust them to know how to convert a PDF to GIF first), so this already might be an indication that the rest of us straight-laced lot should consider following their GIF rich example.

But, where things really get interesting is when one takes a look at the reasons why tech companies are using GIFs (hint, it’s not just about the fun). If you are curious to find out these reasons, read on. Because we are about to reveal just what tech companies get out of using GIFS in their marketing.

GIF=Attention=Precious Commodity

It’s no secret that we are bombarded by content daily. Couple that with the fact that our attention spans are said to be only 8 seconds these days, it can be pretty hard to get people to read one’s marketing material.

Walls of text, no matter how well crafted and broken up, are bound to chase away even the most diligent of readers. But GIFs, on the other hand, grab attention automatically. What can be more attention-grabbing than an animated image relentlessly bobbing around on one’s screen?

This makes GIFs a powerful media type to utilize and is one of the reasons why tech companies love and use them.

It’s Great for User Guides

It’s safe to say that user guides have to be one of the most boring and hard to read content types under the sun. What normal person enjoys reading a user manual?

Most of us probably give up before we even halfway in.

Enter the GIF.

Because GIFs draw attention effortlessly they are ideal for use in tedious material. But not only can they keep readers engaged, but in the case of user guides, GIFs can also be effectively used for visually demonstrating an action required on the part of the user.

This simple benefit of GIFs allows them to be able to transform an almost unbearable and tiring guide into an effortless transfer of instructions.

It Boosts Branding

What is branding made up of? Visual stuff. Logos, color schemes, fonts, and illustrations are the bricks and motor of branding. Because branding is made up largely of visual elements (as it is the ‘face’ or persona of a brand) this is another place where GIFs can fit right in.

And no, we are not talking about random GIFs off of Giphy of course. Branded GIFs are animated images that tie in with a brand’s theme. For example, if your company has a mascot, you could transform a version of this into a branded GIF.

If you were wondering what company would do such as thing, think Google and Schweppes.

They Help Companies to Stay Relevant

One of the biggest challenges that face big companies is the problem of staying relevant, up-to-date and relatable.

GIFs can help to combat all three of these challenges in one foul sweep. Because what can be more relevant, relatable and on-trend than a really good GIF?

Companies that utilize GIFs are bound to give the impression that they are keeping up with the times and that they are made up of human beings rather than being a corporate machine.

GIFs Have the Power to Increase Revenue

Yes, it’s true. GIFs have the power to increase your revenue.

A case study of Dell’s GIF rich marketing campaign showed a 42% increase in their campaign click-through rate… And a 109% increase in revenue.

It goes without saying that Dell’s marketing campaign was well designed to start off with and that their incorporation of GIFs was well thought out. But this is a strong illustration of how the use of GIFs can catch people’s attention and increase the effectiveness of your marketing efforts.

To the point where it can even impact your revenue.

They Are Better Than a Photo but Cheaper Than Video

A picture that moves is much more effective at drawing attention and interest and conveying information than a picture that doesn’t. This is why video has fast become one of the most effective forms of content.

At the same time, video can be costly to produce and resource hungry for a company to put out consistently and at a pace.

GIFs, on the other hand, combine the best of both media types. Almost as cheap to produce as a picture, GIFs are also way cheaper to put together than videos.

How to Convert PDF to GIF

Okay, it’s easy to see that GIFs can provide a host of easy-to-reap benefits. But how does one go about transforming a PDF into a GIF?

Well, in previous times you had to go through a cumbersome process on Windows which involved opening paint, making screenshots and all manner of tortuous paths to get to the point where you had your GIF file. Or you had to use a form of special PDF conversion software.

Nowadays however you simply use an online converter tool—such as ours—to convert your PDF in a matter of minutes.

So… Don’t Be a Stiff… Have Fun with GIFs!

It’s easy to do and can have a huge impact on your marketing materials… And even your bottom line. So don’t be a stiff, get out there and have fun with GIFs!

There are so many benefits that can be reaped from the use of GIFs, that you simply can’t afford to not take advantage of them.

Most computer systems that have Microsoft Word installed also have Microsoft Paint – a user-friendly graphics and image editing program. Thankfully, it’s easy to convert a .DOCX to JPG using it.

To convert a DOCX to JPG, you’ll need to do a text as an image or document as image conversion involving both Word and Paint.

To do this, open the Word file in Microsoft. Edit and size the document so the whole document (or the part you’d like to save) is visible on the screen. You can do this by using the zoom feature.

As you can only convert exactly what is visible on the screen, it’s important to size it accordingly. Remember that other parts of the screen with also be captured, but these can be edited out in an image editor.

Press Print Screen on your keyboard to copy the visible section of the Word document.

Next, navigate to the Start menu and open Microsoft Paint. In the Edit menu, choose Paste.

Your selection of the Word Document will appear in Microsoft Paint.

Use the crop tool to remove any unwanted parts of the document. Then, select Save As in the File menu and name your image as desired. In the drop-down menu, make sure the document saves as a JPG.

4. Using PowerPoint

Using PowerPoint is another easy way to convert a DOCX file to a JPG. While the standard PowerPoint file type is .PPT, you can save files in a .JPG format too if you change the file extension type when saving.

To convert using PowerPoint, open your Word document along with a new blank PowerPoint presentation. Choose a blank template in PowerPoint to avoid any additional backgrounds showing up in the final image.

Copy the part of the Word Document you’d like to save in Microsoft Word. Once copied, go back to the PowerPoint slide.

Open a text box and paste the information from Word into the box. Delete any other text and image boxes if there are any left on the slide.

Choose Save As in the File menu and name your file as desired. Then select JPG from the dropdown menu and save.

5. Using an Online Conversion Website

The last option is to use an online conversion website like ours for quick and easy conversion.

CSV file

How to Know When to Convert to a CSV File

Did you know that there are 1.2 billion MS Office users in the world? For many, Excel has been the one-stop-shop for their data organizational needs.

Excel is used globally for everything from project management to payroll to productivity predictions.

However, even Excel has its limits. Many people in 2019 are beginning to understand and apply the power of the CSV file, or comma-separated value file. In fact, in some cases, it has become an industry standard.

What is a CSV file? And when should you switch to using it? Check our guide to the best usage of CSV files today.

What is a CSV File?

Let’s start at the beginning. What is a CSV file? Think of your average spreadsheet program. You are familiar with the rows and columns layout.  The spreadsheet program retains information regarding the content of the cells. It also retains control of the formatting of the content within the program.

This works basically well. However, with limitations. This is essentially into the spreadsheet program and cannot easily be used in another format. It is also very difficult to port this information to other programs.

CSV files provide similar functionality, yet with greater flexibility. CSV files do not depend on outside software to arranges or delimits the data. In fact, it does not retain any formatting instructions at all. It simply and efficiently organizes the data using the humble and simple comma.

The beauty of this is that the CSV file closely resembles a text file. Users can thus import it into nearly all data interfaces.

For this reason, it has in some cases become an industry standard. Magneto and many other legal and retail software programs regularly work in CSV files.

Why Would I Use a CSV File?

The flexibility of CSV files gives them multiple uses:

Data Transfer

Spreadsheet programs are used to hold vast amounts of data.

At a certain point, this becomes too large for a spreadsheet to handle. They must be transferred to a specific database program. This is often accomplished by converting the spreadsheet to a CSV file.

Easy to Make

CSV files are essentially plain text files. This means that they can be created very simply and quickly yet can handle large amounts of data safely.

Accessibility

Plain text files are one of the most basic file types available. They are almost universally accepted by data management programs worldwide.

How Do I Create a CSV File?

A spreadsheet may hold a large amount of important information. Thus, it is very important to convert spreadsheets to CSV files with zero data loss.

Entrusting this information to experts for its conversion is the best way to do this. However, they need to provide some assurances.

The information in the spreadsheet may be sensitive. The converters must provide assurances that the security of the file is guaranteed. This is not only during the conversion stage but also during upload and download. This may be provided by means of SSL or TSL encryption.

The converter must guarantee that they will not retain or abuse the information by placing it in the public domain.

Once you have researched these requirements and located a trustworthy online tool you are ready to convert.

Of course, in the unlikely event that you will want to turn back to Excel, you can also convert to Excel with the same trustworthy method.

How Can I View a CSV File?

Data is arranged in text file format separated by comma delimitation. As discussed, this allows it to be read and accessed by a number of programs.

The simplest way of reading this type of file is to open it in a plain text editor. Many are available free of charge including the plain text editor Notepad that Windows provides as standard.

Alternatively, an ASCII or word processing application will be able to retrieve the data.

Perhaps the most natural and familiar method of reading the data as in a table with columns and rows, such as a spreadsheet program.

When to Convert?

If you are wondering whether you should convert your spreadsheet files to CSV, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do I have mathematical calculations that I need to convert to visual images for a presentation?
  • Do I have a large number of statistics that I need to make a visual impact with graphics and illustrations?
  • Have I been given a large number of numbers that I am not familiar with and need to process into meaningful data?
  • Am I worried that my growing database will soon be too large for the spreadsheet program that I am using and will soon to need to safely export it?

If you answer yes to these or any similar questions, you may need to start considering converting your spreadsheet files to CSV format.

epub

7 Advantages of Converting Text to an Epub File

Are you considering creating an E-book? Or maybe you prefer reading them?

In the world of E-publishing, there are two eBook formats that reign – EPUB and PDF.

While PDF holds the title as the world’s oldest eBook format, today EPUB has become significantly more popular.

There are good reasons why, too. Want to learn what all the fuss is about?

Check out the seven advantages of converting text to an EPUB file.

1. Creating and Editing Files Is Easy

An EPUB is a zip file featuring style sheets, XHTML files, and JPG images. However even if you’re not experienced in the world of coding, you can use one of the many software programs online to help you create and edit an EPUB file.

For editing, you just need to make changes in the HTML codes, and you can make whatever adjustments you need. Alternatively, using PDF, you’ll need to have an Adobe subscription or even a subscription to another piece of software to make any edits and changes to the content and layout.

2. The eBook Design Flows Well

One of the best advantages of using an EPUB format is the ability to re-flow content in the file.

When you open up a PDF document on a small screen, you need to zoom in, pan out, and pinch to read the document. It’s not the most comfortable reading experience, to say the least! Users want the opportunity to sit back, relax, and read without having to fidget around with the screen.

EPUB documents, on the other hand, fit perfectly with the screen. Depending on the screen size, the page breaks to fit it. You’ll be amazed at how the content on the page rearranges and realigns itself to suit the screen.

Likewise, the text rearranges itself automatically according to the screen size of the reading device.

3. Media Files Can Be Added

Unlike regular books, eBooks can contain audio files, videos, and high-quality imagery.

Using an EPUB file format, you can add these multimedia elements to an eBook to make it aesthetically pleasing and interactive for the reader.

A PDF, on the other hand, is a static document holding text and images. While it’s attempting to become more engaging with the inclusion of videos and other multimedia files, this comes with some issues.

Playing videos on a PDF document relies on software compatibility so you’ll need to open the file in a certain PDF reader to watch the video in action.

While the user will need to download software to support the PDF to play a video, an EPUB file doesn’t require any extra software.

4. Supported on Multiple Reader Platforms

EPUBS are designed to benefit the eBook readers as best as they can. So, they’re best suited for eReaders.

However, XML and XHTML allow EPUBS to be accessible and compatible with many different software programs. Whether you’re reading your eBook on a computer, smartphone, tablet, or any other eReader (excluding Kindle), you can be assured your EPUB will load easily.

While PDFs can be read on almost all devices, they aren’t compatible with eReaders and aren’t designed to be displayed on an eBook reader. Instead, they’re created for big screens like desktop computers or laptops. Although you can read them on smaller devices like phones and tablets, you’ll have to pinch and zoom a lot as mentioned earlier.

5. Retailer’s Favorite

All major eBook retailer sites and distributors prefer EPUB, such as Amazon, Apple, Nook, Kobo, and more. As it’s such a widely accepted format and is supported by most of the eReaders, eBooks with EPUB files are easily bought and sold online.

On the other hand, these sites don’t accept PDFs. If your eBook was a PDF file, it would first need to be converted into an EPUB file before approaching online eBook stores.

6. Offers High Security

EPUB files offer DRM protection, meaning eBooks cannot be shared without permission. Only you can allow people to read an eBook or can specify a time period for people to access the content. You can also limit the devices where the eBook can be installed.

PDF files instead provide a password lock system. However, this method isn’t particularly safe and secure. This is because there’s a password recovery software that can be used to remove the password on the document.

So even if a password is used, it can easily be removed – which isn’t very effective in protecting files at all. Plus, passwords can easily be shared around, so you’d never know who’s using your PDF document.

7. Easily Convertible

There are many tools and programs that can convert EPUB files to and from various formats.

This includes a free online conversion website like ours. Whether you have a PDF, DOCX, HTML, ODT, PAGES, RTF, or TXT file, these text files can all be converted into an EPUB file with a few simple clicks.

To do so, rest your browser on the Document Conversion tab at the top of the page. Then click on to the type of file you’d like to convert into an EPUB file.

Next, click on Browse to add the file you’d like to convert. Then, tick the box to pass our security checks. Then click convert!

Your conversion will then process, and you’ll be able to download it. Too easy!

Ready to Use EPUB Files?

Whether you’re planning on creating your own eBook, or whether you simply love sitting down for a good read, it’s clear that EPUB files are the winner when it comes to choosing a format.

PDFs do have their advantages in other ways though and are a great way to easily present a document in a simple and professional format.

RTF file

5 Benefits of Converting Text to an RTF File

You spend many hours drafting, saving, and sending documents. Lots of documents. And important documents at that.

One of your worst nightmares? Discovering that a virus has attached to your document. Or learning that an important receiver of your document can’t open it.

Unfortunately, even though Microsoft Word remains the most in-demand software for word processing, it’s not error free. In light of the problems that many users have had with Word, it’s a wise move to convert text to RTF file when you are working with documents.

Here’s a rundown on five benefits of converting text to an RTF file.

Let’s get started.

What Exactly is an RTF File?

Before we delve into the benefits of RTF, let’s take a glimpse at what RTF is.

RTF, or Rich Text Format, is a format for word processing that made its debut back in 1987. This file was created to help with the exchange of documents across platforms. In other words, it was designed to move between platforms easily.

RTF is different from other word processing format options in that humans can easily read it. On the contrary, if you look at a file in Word, you’ll notice that characters have been added to accommodate various formatting requests. These characters are cumbersome, thus making it hard for you to understand the file.

RTF’s coding is so simple that it has become an extremely useful format for modern word processing tasks.

1. RTF Offers Readability

The fact that RTF can be read across many platforms and programs is one of the most notable benefits of RTF files.

Yes, several applications today can certainly important Word’s DOC files. However, older programs might not have the ability to convert or import newer versions of a Word file.

Fortunately, you don’t have this problem with RTF.

Every core word processing program today has the ability to read RTF. Every desktop database application, e-mail client, and operating system (like Windows, Unix, and Macintosh) can also read these types of files.

For this reason, if you’re not sure what your document receiver can accept, it’s always safe to convert your text to RTF. In this way, you can be sure that your document will always be able to be opened.

2. RTF Is Not Difficult to Master

No matter which word processing programs you’re using, you can rest assured that an RTF file will be easy for you to use. The programs that work easily with RTF include Corel WordPerfect, AppleWorks, and Word.

To convert text to RTF, choose “Save As” under your “File” menu. Then, simply choose “RTF.”

Note that in the human resource industry, many companies specifically request RTF resumes. This is likely because companies want their job applicants’ resumes to all be in the same format. This is especially true if they’re expecting large numbers of applications.

When hiring managers ask for RTF, this means that all applicants should have no problem with complying with their demands, no matter which software they’re using. After all, even an older software used for word processing can be used to make RTF documents.

3. RTF Doesn’t Spread Viruses

Unfortunately, Word’s macro viruses have the potential to pose major security problems online.

However, if you decide to send an RTF file rather than a DOC file via email, you can be certain that no harmful macros will accidentally be sent to your email recipients. That’s because RTF doesn’t use macros, so it can’t hide any macros that may contain viruses.

At the same time, you don’t have to worry about your formatting being lost when you send your email.

Because RTF files do not contain viruses or macros that can affect word documents, businesses, including hiring managers, are more likely to trust a .rtf file versus a .doc file.

4. RTF Offers a Tinier File Size

If files contain nothing but text data, saving them as .doc files will lead to larger file sizes.

On the flip side, if you save the same files as .rtf files, you’ll have smaller files. Why? Because an RTF file uses encoding that is text based.

The tinier file size of an RTF file is a major benefit, as a tinier file is easier to upload and download. It’ll also save disk space, thus helping to prevent disk storage issues.

5. RTF Avoids Corruption Issues

Another major reason to choose RTF over DOC files is if the word processor you’re using is having corruption problems.

In some situations, the number of hidden characters that a Word document has causes problems. In the worst-case scenario, you’ll have a hard time saving the document due to such errors.

However, by converting your text to RTF, you’ll retain your document formatting and have no problem with saving your document.
